Hello friends, I hope you’re well and enjoying the start of Spring. Here at the Susan Poorman Blackie Ovarian Cancer Foundation (SPB4OVC), we’ve had a busy 2015 thus far. Thank you for your support that has helped us get to where we are today. Susan would be thrilled to have so many supporters who believe in her mission to spread the word about ovarian cancer and to fund cutting edge research. With financial support from donors like you in 2014, our foundation funded more than $250,000 in support of cutting edge research like “The Anderson Algorithm,” a project of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Ovarian Moon Shots that is already showing great success using a new surgical algorithm with ovarian cancer patients. 2015 looks to be another tremendous opportunity to support research like this so we can, at long last, begin to see improvements in the detection and treatment of this “silent killer” of women.

I’m pleased to present our very first e-newsletter packed with updates and information about our awareness efforts and how we’re advancing leading research for early detection and treatment. We have some exciting events coming up this Spring and Summer so please take a look and join us if you can! Also, please check out our Research Spotlight featuring one of our 2014 and 2015 funding recipients, The Clearity Foundation, and get to know one of our special “Teal Warriors” who is championing our cause. Finally, I encourage you to read our latest blog from Susan’s daughter, Mindy, sharing her story and hopefully encouraging others to do the same.
